Institute of Caribbean Insurance Risk Managers (ICIRM) formerly known as Institute of Caribbean Home Office Underwriters (ICHOU) founded in 1995 is a Caribbean Organization specifically established for the following purposes:

  • Forum for continuing education for underwriters, claims technicians and medical professionals.
  • It allows for networking between technicians where they can consult and share information on unusual issues, which makes them even more efficient in their given profession.
  • The Reinsurers use this forum to support their Caribbean Clients by assisting in the continuing learning process.
  • Introduction and awareness of new medical technology and procedures from specialized doctors and certified labs in the Caribbean and North America.

The membership of the organization includes the Risk Managers of Insurance Companies in the Caribbean and North America.

Conferences are held Biennial and are attended by delegates from all over the region. All aspects relating to claims and underwriting in the Life Insurance Industry are covered.

This is done by securing speakers who are knowledgeable on topics of valuable interests. Conference 2010 would be no different. It is expected to be well attended and beneficial to all risk managers.

With the introduction of the The Caricom Single Market Economy (CSME) and the new developments occurring in the Caricom Region this organization is well poised to foster a smooth integration of the claims and underwriting practices in the region.
